And that's how it works...

Create Group
You create a new group and get a secret group admin link. Don't lose it and don't give it to anyone! You need it to manage your group and finally draw names.

Invite Friends
You also get a second group links, which you can send to your friends (via WhatsApp, Facebook, Email, ...). They can add their names to the list, or you can already do this for them.

Everyone registers
When your friends register, everyone gets a their own private secret link.

Draw Names!
When everyone is registered, you can draw names. Then their private secret link tells everyone, which name they have drawn. And if someone loses their private secret link, the admin can help them recover it.

Wichteln - also known as "Secret Santa" - is a fun tradition to bring even more variety to giving and to receiving gifts. Everyone in your group draws the name of another person to give a gift to. This name must be kept secret!

When is Secret Santa time?
And here's the best thing: Secret Santa is not just a Christmas tradition. You can do it whenever you want to give something special to your friends and family. And it's fun whenever and wherever you do it: at Easter, on Saint Nicholas Day, at the end of Ramadan (Eid al-Fitr, Ramazan Bayramı), at Hanukkah, during carnival, at school (your school's out party or a birthday Wichtel group), at work (at a company party or a Secret Santa birthday group), with friends (e.g. as a vacation event or on holidays), at your young mums' group's meeting, at your bowling club's yearly party, at halloween, on valentine's day, ... . So don't wait and start a group right now!

Wichtel Exclusions
If you already give a gift to someone in your group, you can tell Wichtelmania to exclude this person when you draw names.
This is very useful for couples who use Wichtelmania with friends and family, but already have gifts for each other.

Kitsch Wichtel
You can also have a special theme for your Wichtel gifts: in this variation only kitschy gifts are allowed. So: find something truly exquisite. An old umbrella stand or a handmade oil painting of a romantic sunset in the birch forest is guaranteed to bring joy to the gift´s recipient.
Hint: You best start looking for really "good" pieces during the year.

Trash Wichtel
The slightly rougher version. The one who gives the most pointless piece, is the winner.
Just wrap into newspaper!
But no perishable items, please!

Additional Variation
When someone can guess, who has given them their gift, they can swap gifts with their noble donor.
